April Pool's Day

Up until last Saturday, happiness for me was making waves in my 3-foot long, six-inch deep bath tub. You could just imagine how wild I became when I plunged into my own inflatable swimming pool which my Ninang Nona gave me for my first birthday.

As soon as Ninang brought it home, Daddy wasted no time inflating it using our motorized air pump and filling it with water. And to check how durable it was, Daddy jumped right in for a swim.

After a few laps, Daddy declared that the pool was baby safe and friendly. Yaya Menchie slipped me into my bathing suit and I jumped right in with my cousins Judith and Jessica, and my constant bathing companion, Rubber Ducky. I had a splashing grand time.

It's summer time and with the temperature rising each day, I'm definitely going to spend a lot of time cooling off in my swimming pool. And so I officially proclaim the coming month "April Pool's Day."

Hey friends and cousins, come on over to my house for a pool party. Titos and Titas, you're invited too -- just bring some pizza for the pool boy -- my dad.

My First Birthday Gift

Last Tuesday, March 14, 2006 was my first birthday. I woke up quite early -- around 3 a.m., I think -- but mom told me to go back to sleep. I woke up again around 5:30 and babbled for attention. Mom and Dad greeted me happy birthday and smothered me with hugs and kisses.

Mom told me all about the grand birthday party she's throwing for me two Sundays from my birthday. It should have been the Sunday right after my brithday but she was having a big event at Pondereso on that day.

Before mom and dad left for work, they witnessed me receiving my very first birthday gift. It was such a surprise! I got a gift from my baby neighbor Yuki -- a pretty summer dress. Very sexy if I might say. Thanks, Yuki. You've got good taste.

Shop till you Drop

A few weekends ago, mom and dad took me for my first grocery shopping cart ride. They thought it was about time to consult me on the food I want to eat.

It was such an exciting experience for me to sit on the driver's seat as mom whisked off through to all aisles. Mom gave me a quick tour of the junk food section only to tell me that I should stay away from all of them because they're what they are -- junk. As if I didn't know that she keeps her Tostitos and chips inside her cabinet. What kind of rule is that?

Anyway, we combed through the whole supermarket methodically row by row until we reached my favorite aisle... the baby food section.

You can see me here, scrutinizing the nutritional values of my favorite snack. I love these finger food biscuits. They are so yummy. I can finish one whole box in less than a week. Yaya knows this and intentionally forgets to remind mom when I've cleaned the box out. So sometimes I go finger food snackless for days.

Shopping is a lot of fun and it really relieves me of all the child stress I get from growing up with a wacky dad. I hope mom and dad bring me more often to their shopping escapades. I can't wait to walk and finally choose my own clothes, shoes, food, clips, and all the legal baby stuff the constitution entitles me to have.

Memoirs of a Baby Geisha

Last Saturday, we celebrated Lolo Victor's birthday with a good lunch out. Daddy tells me Lolo would have been 84 and would have loved me and mommy to bits.

Lola Betty had been craving for fresh oysters for quite some time and so we gave her a treat at Marina. This is one of Mommy's favorite restos as it serves the freshest and safest oysters in the Metro.

I sat in own baby chair as mommy fed me all the good stuff my milk teeth could handle -- grilled fish (really good), vegetables, and Sinigang (phew . . . spicy hot stuff!). Lola Betty, sat quietly at the head of the table happily gobbling up all the oysters she could take.

In the course of the meal, Mommy noticed a Japanese boy on the other table who was watching me the whole time. I seem to have a huge appeal with Japanese boys. Mom says my big doe eyes make them think I come straight out of an Japanese Anime series. And Dad thinks they find me pretty enough to pass for a Japanese geisha.

Well, going back to my “Made in Japan” fan. He finally mustered some courage to go up to our table and introduce himself. He was nice and he tried talking to me and making me smile. I couldn’t make out what this Ninja was saying, but I think he wanted my autograph.

Lola thought I was too young to entertain boys but mom and dad said it was OK as long as I don’t give them our phone number . Ninong Martin, in true paparazzi fashion, stole this shot with my new Japanese admirer.

I didn’t have a chance to get his name so let’s just call him Ken . . . Watanabe. Sounds good, don’t you think? Well I guess, I’ll make him President of my fan club—Japan Chapter. Sorry, Yuki. You’re fired!

Knee Pals

I'm a few weeks from turning one year old, yet I just recently discovered the pleasures of crawling on all fours. Mom and dad got me a pair of knee pads from Enfant, and ever since Daddy let me crawl in my room, I have not had enough of it.

Last weekend, we went to Lola Betty's house, and although mommy forgot to bring my knee pads, daddy allowed me to crawl all over Lola's room. I had so much fun and was giggling and struggling to pick up all the small stuff on the floor.

I know everyone has been waiting for me to walk, but wait up guys... I'm still enjoying crawling with my knee pads!
